Susquehanna County Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Troopers Hurt
A violent incident in Thompson Township, Susquehanna County, began when 61-year-old Carmine Faino fatally shot his neighbor, Lori Wasko, and then ambushed Pennsylvania State Troopers Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins, seriously wounding both. Perechinsky's lifesaving measures for Jenkins were praised as heroic by Governor Josh Shapiro. Faino also injured an EMT by firing on his vehicle and caused further alarm by shooting down a police drone and sitting on a propane tank, raising fears of an explosive device. Despite prolonged negotiations, Faino was shot and killed by police after he continued to resist. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shootings and law enforcement response.
