Gladiators Star Matty Campbell Promotes Controversial Children's Supplements

Matty Campbell, known as Bionic from the BBC show Gladiators, is facing backlash for promoting the US supplement brand Ghost, which has been accused of marketing its products deceptively to children. Ghost, which sells protein powders and energy drinks with candy-inspired flavors, has been criticized for its vibrant packaging that appeals to minors. The watchdog group Truth in Advertising (TINA.org) filed a complaint against Ghost in December 2022, claiming the brand violates Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and FDA laws by targeting children through influencers like Campbell. TINA's legal director emphasized that Ghost's marketing renders their practices unfair and deceptive, posing health risks to children. Despite Campbell's promotions attracting a younger fanbase, it remains unclear whether he is under a formal contract with the brand. Critics argue that if Campbell is promoting products unsuitable for children, he must disclose safety information clearly to his audience.
