Ogden Townhome Fire Causes $1.6M Damage, Multiple Units Destroyed

Two significant fires occurred recently in different locations, causing substantial damage but no reported injuries. In Silver Spring, a garage fire caused approximately $350,000 in damage and displaced a family of two and a pet; the fire originated from improperly discarded grilling materials that ignited combustibles and a hybrid car's electric battery, leading to a hazmat response. In Ogden, Utah, a fire at a townhome construction site resulted in an estimated $1.6 million in damages; firefighters responded swiftly to extinguish flames primarily on the roof, saving adjoining buildings from damage. The Ogden fire involved 23 firefighters from the Ogden Fire Department and Weber Fire District working in coordination, with the cause under investigation by the Ogden Fire Marshal’s Office.
