Fatal Stabbing Near OSU; Separate Pittsburgh Slashing

In Columbus, 21-year-old Robert Russell was fatally stabbed early Sunday on the 1700 block of North High Street in the University District near Ohio State University; he was taken to Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after. Police say an apparent fight escalated to a stabbing, alleged suspects fled on foot and may have patronized nearby businesses, and no suspects have been identified as the homicide investigation continues. Separately, in Pittsburgh’s Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood, a man was treated for slash wounds to his back and jaw after an early-morning fight on the 2600 block of California Avenue and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Investigators said that fight began inside an establishment, continued outside after security removed those involved, and police are interviewing witnesses and reviewing security camera footage with no suspect identified yet.
