Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Halt Labadee Haiti Visits

Royal Caribbean has suspended all visits to its private Labadee resort in Haiti due to escalating gang violence, political instability, and a U.S. State Department Level 4 (Do Not Travel) advisory. The decision, marking the second consecutive year of halted stops, follows recent incidents of commercial aircraft being shot at near Port-au-Prince, as well as widespread kidnappings and crime. International officials report that gangs now control much of the country, including multiple prison breaks and armed activity beyond the capital. Local Haitian vendors who depend on tourism have been significantly impacted by the suspension. Royal Caribbean has notified affected guests, provided alternate destinations, and given no timeline for a return to Labadee. Celebrity Cruises, a sister line, had already removed Labadee from its itineraries, highlighting broader industry concerns for passenger safety.
