Liz Kitley Night
Elizabeth Kitley, a standout player in Virginia Tech women's basketball history, will have her jersey retired on January 19, 2025, during a game against Louisville at Cassell Coliseum. Kitley, who was instrumental in leading the Hokies to their first Final Four appearance in 2023, holds numerous program records, including points scored and rebounds, and was named ACC Player of the Year three times. Her illustrious career came to an unfortunate end last season due to an ACL injury, but she was still drafted 24th overall by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Athletic Director Whit Babcock has praised Kitley's impact on the program, emphasizing her work ethic and character as an inspiration for future athletes. Tickets for the jersey retirement ceremony are in high demand, reflecting her legacy among Hokie fans. The event promises to be a significant occasion in honoring Kitley's contributions to Virginia Tech's basketball program.
