VW Subsidiary Moia Launches Series Production Fully Autonomous ID.Buzz for Mobility Services
Volkswagen's subsidiary Moia has announced the series production of the fully autonomous ID. Buzz AD minivan, designed specifically for robotaxi and autonomous mobility services, with production starting in 2026. The vehicle, based on a seven-seat model, will initially launch in Hamburg, Germany, before expanding to other European cities and the U.S., including Los Angeles, where thousands of these vehicles will be deployed in partnership with Uber. Equipped with Intel’s Mobileye self-driving technology and integrated into Moia's proprietary Autonomous Driving Mobility-as-a-Service platform, the ID. Buzz AD offers a turnkey solution for fleet operators, combining AI-based fleet management, safety compliance, and a customer-friendly booking system. Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume emphasized that this fully connected 360-degree package allows cities, municipalities, and fleet operators to provide autonomous mobility simply, reliably, and at scale, positioning Volkswagen as a frontrunner in the global autonomous vehicle market. The initiative aims to address challenges such as driver shortages and service demand fluctuations, contributing to sustainable and intelligent mobility solutions worldwide.
