White Plains Man Sentenced to 38 Years for Murder

Marvin Ernesto Funez-Martinez, a 23-year-old from White Plains, Maryland, has been sentenced to 38 years in prison for the second-degree murder of Marco Alexander Pulido-Castro, who was brutally stabbed 59 times in October 2023. The incident occurred after an argument over money during a trip to a nightclub in Washington, D.C. After returning home, Funez-Martinez retrieved a larger knife and attacked Pulido-Castro while he was checking under the hood of his overheating car. The victim's body was later found in the trunk of a Nissan Sentra. Funez-Martinez was convicted in July 2024, and following his prison term, he will serve five years of supervised probation. The case has drawn attention due to the extreme violence and the circumstances leading to the murder.
