Merced police have located a 2024 Toyota Tundra pickup truck suspected in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of 39-year-old Justin Rigers on East Yosemite Avenue. Rigers was crossing the street when he was first struck by the Toyota, which fled the scene, and subsequently hit by a Honda Civic, whose driver remained at the scene. Emergency responders pronounced Rigers dead at the scene, and police are processing the Toyota for evidence. Witnesses are encouraged to come forward, as some may have left before authorities arrived. Meanwhile, in another incident, a man was hit by a car in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento County, although further details about his condition remain unclear. Both accidents highlight ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety in California.
