Ravi Bellamkonda Named Ohio State Provost

Ohio State University has appointed Dr. Ravi V. Bellamkonda as its new executive vice president and provost, effective January 14, 2025, pending Board of Trustees approval. Bellamkonda, currently serving in a similar role at Emory University, is recognized for his contributions to biomedical research and academic leadership, including initiatives in faculty recruitment and artificial intelligence in education. OSU President Ted Carter emphasized the importance of finding a leader who exemplifies excellence and collaborative leadership. Bellamkonda will oversee the university's academic programs and initiatives, reporting to the President's Cabinet and managing the deans of all 15 academic colleges. His hiring follows a year-long search after the departure of former provost Melissa Gilliam, who became president of Boston University. Bellamkonda expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead at one of the nation's prominent land-grant universities.
