North Korean Soldier's Diary Reveals Battlefield Tactics

A diary belonging to a deceased North Korean soldier in Ukraine has revealed that Pyongyang's troops are being utilized as 'human bait' to draw out and target Ukrainian drones. The soldier, identified as Gyeong Hong Jong, documented tactics for neutralizing drones, including a method where one soldier acts as bait while others prepare to shoot, maintaining a distance of seven meters from the drone. The diary entries reflect the soldier's longing for home, his admiration for Kim Jong Un, and his commitment to his military orders, stating he would fulfill them 'even at the cost of my life'. Since their deployment, approximately 12,000 North Korean troops have been sent to support Russia, with an estimated 4,000 casualties reported in recent weeks. The publication of the diary comes amid reports from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that two North Korean soldiers have been captured. This situation underscores the harsh realities of modern warfare and the significant sacrifices made by these troops.
