Two Charged in Bamber Bridge Baby's Death Following Hit-and-Run
Two people have been charged following a collision in Bamber Bridge that left a pregnant woman seriously injured and resulted in the death of her newborn baby boy. The incident occurred on September 29, when the woman, in her 30s, was struck on a pedestrian crossing by a car driving towards Preston. After emergency surgery, the baby was delivered but later died in hospital; the mother is still recovering from her injuries. Ashir Shahid, 20, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, while a 16-year-old has been charged with assisting an offender. Both have been remanded to appear before Preston Magistrates’ Court, and other individuals remain on police bail as the investigation continues. Authorities are appealing for witnesses or information related to the case.
