Multiple Cities Host Annual Buddy Walks Raising Awareness for Down Syndrome

Several communities across the United States are hosting Buddy Walk events this weekend to raise awareness and support for individuals with Down syndrome. The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo, Down Syndrome Association of Sudbury, the Down Syndrome Coalition for El Paso, and the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Center in Allentown are all organizing walks featuring family activities, entertainment, and fundraising efforts. These events emphasize unity, inclusion, and community support while providing resources and scholarships for individuals with disabilities. The Lehigh Valley Buddy Walk in Allentown, expecting over 800 participants, includes festivities such as food trucks, bounce houses, and arts and crafts, with proceeds benefiting local Down syndrome programs. The national Buddy Walk program, established by the National Down Syndrome Society, continues to foster awareness and inclusion nationwide. Participants are encouraged to join to celebrate and support individuals with Down syndrome in their communities.
