Archer Aviation Tapped for LA 2028 Olympics Air Taxis

Archer Aviation has been named the exclusive air taxi provider for both the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games, planning to use its electric Midnight eVTOL aircraft to transport VIPs, athletes, fans, and support emergency services between key venues. The company aims to establish a vertiport network spanning sites from Santa Monica to Orange County, including locations such as SoFi Stadium and LAX, providing 10- to 20-minute flights to help create a 'car-free' Olympics for 15 million expected attendees. Archer expects to secure full FAA certification for its aircraft by 2026, ahead of the Games. The Midnight aircraft is designed to be quieter and more sustainable than helicopters, and Archer has partnered with major aviation and infrastructure companies to support the initiative. This deployment will serve as a major demonstration for air taxi services, following regulatory setbacks for similar efforts like Volocopter at Paris 2024.
