Sundar’s 49* Levels Series; India Win Women's World Cup
India levelled their T20 series in Hobart with a five-wicket win over Australia, reaching 187 with Washington Sundar unbeaten on 49 off 23 to get home with nine balls to spare after Tim David (74 off 38) and Marcus Stoinis (64) had powered Australia to 186/6. Australia paceman Nathan Ellis took 3-36, while Josh Hazlewood sat out the remaining fixtures with the Ashes looming. In Navi Mumbai, India beat South Africa by 52 runs to lift their maiden ICC Women's World Cup title, posting 298-7 thanks to Shafali Verma's 87 and Deepti Sharma's 58. Sharma then returned 5-39 with the ball as South Africa, despite Laura Wolvaardt’s valiant 101, were bowled out for 246 in a chase that featured a match-sealing acrobatic catch by Amanjot Kaur. Sachin Tendulkar and ICC chief Jay Shah were among the celebrities in attendance as India celebrated on home soil. Elsewhere, India A edged South Africa A in an unofficial Test at Bengaluru, Rishabh Pant’s 90 helping seal a narrow win.
