Armed Forces Day Events Mark WWII 80th Anniversary Across UK

Armed Forces Day events across the UK on June 28, 2025, are commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and honoring the service of current and former military personnel. In Swindon, Lydiard Park will host a free celebration featuring a cadet parade, gun salute, C-130 flypast, and live music, with the Armed Forces Day flag raised to start national celebrations. Barrow held a parade involving Sea Cadets, veterans, and military personnel, emphasizing the importance of educating the younger generation and honoring those who serve. Cleethorpes is preparing for a major event with military parades, flypasts by the Red Arrows and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and a display of military vehicles, also planning to bid to host the National Armed Forces Day again in 2026. Hartlepool will celebrate its new twinning with the Royal Navy’s HMS Venturer, including equipment displays and cadet activities at the National Museum of the Royal Navy. Hull will host a family-friendly event in Queen Victoria Square featuring military attractions, veterans’ groups, musical performances, and a film screening, all aimed at reflecting on and thanking the armed forces.
