The Flood Fire, which started near Oracle Junction on October 9, has rapidly expanded to an estimated 3,000 acres, fueled by high winds up to 30 mph. This fire has prompted evacuation orders for the Panther Butte neighborhood and the Palo Verde Ranch, due to its proximity—about three miles from Panther Butte. Fire crews, including additional hand crews and air support, are working to suppress the flames, particularly focusing on the northwest side where activity is most intense. The fire has been described as erratic, with its behavior moderated slightly in the morning, yet it continues to advance uphill through desert terrain. Despite its rapid spread, there are currently no road closures, and approximately 160 personnel are involved in the firefighting efforts. Residents are advised to monitor emergency warnings as the situation develops.
