Two Bicyclists Seriously Injured in Separate Washington County Crashes
Two bicyclists were seriously injured in separate crashes in Washington County on Sunday, July 13. One female cyclist was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Northwest Dairy Creek Road and spent the night alone in a ditch before being found and taken to a trauma center with serious leg, facial, and other injuries. The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team is investigating the hit-and-run and authorities are seeking information from the public. Later that morning, a 55-year-old male cyclist from Northwest Portland was critically injured after crossing into the path of a southbound vehicle at the intersection of Northwest Old Cornelius Pass Road and Northwest Cornelius Pass Road; the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators, with no crimes being investigated. Both incidents prompted reminders from deputies to share the road responsibly and follow traffic laws. Authorities have provided non-emergency contact information for anyone with information about either crash.
