However, the number of women traveling out of state for abortions has decreased by about 9%, indicating that state bans are becoming more effective. The report highlights that twelve states enforce strict abortion bans, with additional states implementing six-week bans. While clinician-provided abortions have risen, the Guttmacher report does not account for self-managed abortions, such as those facilitated through telehealth or community networks. Experts suggest that while overall abortions are up, access remains limited for some, particularly in restrictive states. This evolving landscape follows the Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade, which has led to a patchwork of state laws governing abortion access.
