Thane police have registered a case against a woman and several of her relatives for allegedly kidnapping her estranged husband to coerce him into increasing his divorce settlement from ₹15 lakh to ₹20 lakh. The victim, a 44-year-old man from Punjabi Colony in Ulhasnagar, was abducted on June 20 and held captive in a dilapidated house until September 28. During his captivity, he was threatened with death if he did not comply with the financial demands. The police confirmed that two individuals were tasked with guarding him to prevent escape. An FIR has been filed against the accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including kidnapping and criminal intimidation. The investigation is currently ongoing following the victim's complaint.
