Big Mac Day

August 2 has been officially declared Big Mac Day in Allegheny County and Uniontown, Pennsylvania, in honor of Jim Delligatti, the inventor of the iconic sandwich. First tested in 1967 at Delligatti's restaurant in Uniontown, the Big Mac became a staple of the McDonald's menu, making its national debut in 1968. To celebrate the occasion, McDonald's is offering $2 Big Macs through the MyMcDonald's Rewards app until August 11. Approximately 550 million Big Macs are sold annually in the U.S., and the sandwich is now available in over 100 countries. Delligatti personally crafted the famous sauce by hand, ensuring it was a hit with customers. The Big Mac has become a cultural icon, inspiring initiatives like The Economist's 'Big Mac Index' to track currency values.
