KJ Apa Cast as Bradley Nowell in Sublime Biopic

KJ Apa has been cast to portray Bradley Nowell in an upcoming biopic about the iconic Long Beach band Sublime, directed by Justin Chon. The film, which is in development at Sony's 3000 Pictures, will feature a screenplay collaboratively written by Chon and Bobby Hundreds, based on an original draft by Chris Mundy. Original Sublime members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson, along with Nowell's wife Troy and son Jakob, are executive producers. The band, known for blending reggae, punk, and ska, achieved posthumous fame after Nowell's death in 1996. Apa, recognized for his role in 'Riverdale,' reportedly pursued this role for nearly two years, demonstrating significant dedication. Sublime's music remains culturally influential, with songs like 'What I Got' and 'Santeria' continuing to resonate with fans decades later.
