Ex-Bolivian Beauty Queen Arrested with $2.3 Million Cocaine in Argentina

Jade Callaú, a 21-year-old former Bolivian beauty queen, was arrested in Argentina after her plane made an emergency landing, revealing a significant cocaine haul valued at approximately $2.3 million. Alongside her was Brazilian pilot Carlos Díaz, 52; both were apprehended after fleeing the scene. Authorities discovered about 359 kilograms of cocaine hidden in 352 packages on their Cessna 210, which had reportedly flown from Bolivia. Security Minister Nestor Roncaglia indicated that the couple's intended destination was likely Buenos Aires, though they faced fuel issues during their flight. Callaú initially attempted to mislead authorities by claiming she was pregnant, before also allegedly trying to bribe the officers with $60,000. Investigations are ongoing to determine if Callaú has familial ties to drug trafficking operations, as she is reportedly related to an arrested drug trafficker in Brazil.
