Kansas City Paramedic Fatally Stabbed by Patient

Kansas City firefighter-paramedic Graham Hoffman was fatally stabbed in the chest by a patient he was transporting to Saint Luke’s Hospital during a routine medical call around 1 a.m. Sunday. The attack occurred in the area of North Oak Trafficway and 152 Highway while Hoffman was providing care in the ambulance. Emergency crews responded quickly and transported Hoffman to North Kansas City Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The patient was taken into police custody and is expected to face serious charges. City officials, including Mayor Quinton Lucas, have expressed condolences and support for Hoffman's family and the fire department. Support services are being offered to affected Kansas City Fire Department employees as the community mourns.
