CPKC, Unifor reach tentative labor agreement for 1,200 workers

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) has announced a tentative four-year collective agreement with Unifor, representing approximately 1,200 employees in Canada, including mechanics and support staff. The agreement was reached just before a potential strike, as union members had previously voted overwhelmingly in favor of strike action if no deal was made by the deadline. CPKC CEO Keith Creel expressed satisfaction with the collaborative effort that led to the agreement, which aims to benefit employees and maintain service for customers. Details of the agreement will remain confidential until ratification. Separately, Canadian National Railway also reached a tentative agreement with a different union representing about 750 workers. Both agreements reflect ongoing efforts to maintain positive labor relations in the railway industry.
