Minnesota Wild Re-signs Forward Johansson to One-Year Deal
Marcus Johansson has re-signed with the Minnesota Wild on a one-year, $800,000 contract, opting to stay with the team instead of entering unrestricted free agency. The 34-year-old forward tallied 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) in 72 games last season and contributed two assists in five playoff games. Johansson, who reached his 500th career NHL point in February, now has 517 points in 983 regular-season games over 15 seasons with multiple teams, and could join the 1,000-game milestone next year. The deal represents a significant pay cut from his previous $2 million salary, but he remains a reliable middle-six forward option for the Wild. Minnesota still has significant cap space and other free agents to address this offseason. Johansson's experience and consistent production should bolster the Wild's lineup as they look to build on last season.
