Sony Co-President Josh Greenstein Expected to Join Paramount Post-Skydance Merger

Josh Greenstein, co-president of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, is set to join the newly merged Paramount Global and Skydance Media following the $8 billion merger closing expected on August 7, 2025. His exact role at Paramount remains undefined but is anticipated to extend beyond the film division, joining a leadership team including Skydance's Dana Goldberg, former Netflix executive Cindy Holland, and Paramount co-CEO George Cheeks. Greenstein’s departure leaves Sanford Panitch as the sole president of Sony’s Motion Picture Group, while Peter Kang is promoted to oversee production operations. Greenstein has a long history with both Sony and Paramount, having led major marketing campaigns for franchises like Spider-Man and Jumanji and previously working at Paramount before joining Sony. The merger was approved by the FCC on July 24 after regulatory delays, with Skydance CEO David Ellison slated to lead the new Paramount. Several current Paramount executives, including co-CEOs Brian Robbins and Chris McCarthy, are expected to exit following the merger’s completion.
