Fire Erupts at Bryant Park Holiday Market

A fire broke out at the Bryant Park holiday market in Midtown Manhattan around 9:20 a.m. on Friday, damaging a kiosk that housed four food vendors and prompting evacuations. The fire, which reportedly started as a trash fire, was brought under control by 10 a.m. with no injuries reported, although the adjacent booth and the roof of the nearby ice skating rink suffered some damage. FDNY Chief Joe Castellano indicated that the situation, while visually severe, did not lead to significant fire spread. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and most of the holiday shops have reopened following the incident. This event follows another recent fire at a holiday market in Herald Square, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding safety in seasonal markets.
