Fran Brown Named Newcomer Coach of the Year

Syracuse football coach Fran Brown has been named the 2024 Paul 'Bear' Bryant Newcomer Coach of the Year, recognizing his outstanding first season leading the team to a 10-3 record, the program's first double-digit win season since 2018. Under Brown's leadership, Syracuse defeated three AP Top-25 teams and finished ranked in every major poll for the first time in several years. His successful strategy included fostering player retention and enhancing the roster through key transfers, notably quarterback Kyle McCord and wide receiver Jackson Meeks. The Orange also excelled defensively, contributing to their remarkable season, capped off by a win in the Holiday Bowl against Washington State. This award will be presented to Brown at the Bear Bryant Awards ceremony on January 22.
