Oakmont Golf Course Prepares for 2025 U.S. Open

Oakmont Country Club is set to host its 10th U.S. Open next summer, featuring significantly expanded greens as part of a renovation led by golf course architect Gil Hanse. Over the past two years, the course has restored more than 24,000 square feet of green surface, aiming to enhance its already challenging layout. The course will now stretch to 7,372 yards, up from 7,219 yards during the 2016 U.S. Open, and it will play as a par 70. The renovations focus on returning the course to its historical roots, with an emphasis on difficulty, particularly through the greens, which are considered the course's primary defense. This will provide new pin placements, including options on the par-3 13th hole that were previously unavailable. Approximately 200 groundskeepers will be on hand to maintain the course leading up to the event, ensuring it meets the high expectations of both players and spectators.
