Former Malaysian Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin Dies

Former Malaysian Finance Minister, Tun Daim Zainuddin, died at the age of 86 on Wednesday morning after being hospitalized due to a stroke, as confirmed by his lawyer, Gurdial Singh Nijar. Daim served as Finance Minister from 1984 to 1991 and again from 1999 to 2001 under Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Recently, he was involved in high-profile legal proceedings, charged with failing to disclose assets under anti-corruption laws, to which he pleaded not guilty. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed condolences, acknowledging Daim's contributions to Malaysia. Several prominent figures, including former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, visited Daim's residence in Bukit Tunku to pay their respects. The funeral is scheduled to take place at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan after the Asar prayers.
