Driver Arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter in Amarillo
A major traffic accident in Amarillo on January 3 resulted in the death of 35-year-old Clebson Roberto Hillario Da Silva and left two others, including a 2-year-old child, critically injured. The crash occurred when 29-year-old Carlos Coronado, driving a 2022 Ram 2500, swerved into northbound traffic on Soncy Road to avoid hitting another vehicle and collided with Da Silva's Ford Escape. Da Silva was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passengers were rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Coronado has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault, with speed and alcohol believed to be contributing factors. The Amarillo Police Department's Traffic Investigation Squad is actively investigating the incident. An autopsy has been ordered for Da Silva to determine the exact cause of death.
