Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer Daniel Kerstetter, 45, has died after being taken off life support following a severe crash on I-75 in Lincoln Park. The crash occurred on September 13, 2024, while Kerstetter was performing a traffic stop; his patrol car was rear-ended by a Ford Explorer, pushing it into a semi-truck. The driver of the Explorer, a 38-year-old woman, also died, while the semi-truck driver was unharmed. Kerstetter, who joined MSP in January 2023, was married with three children. His organs were donated as per his wishes. Michigan State Police have emphasized the dangers of traffic enforcement and are continuing to investigate the incident.
