Escondido Police Issue 56 Citations During Traffic Safety Enforcement

The Escondido Police Department conducted a targeted traffic enforcement operation on Friday, issuing 56 citations for violations such as speeding, disregarding traffic signs and signals, unsafe turning, cell phone use while driving, and driving without a license. The operation, which ran from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., involved officers stopping 63 motorists across the city. Interim Chief of Police Ryan Banks emphasized that reducing crashes and ensuring road safety is a high priority for the department, and urged drivers to exercise caution. The initiative was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Authorities plan to hold another enforcement operation focusing on primary collision factors on June 27, 2025. These efforts are part of a broader campaign to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents in Escondido.
