Marquette Guard Sean Jones Redshirting After ACL Injury
Marquette Men's Basketball junior guard Sean Jones will redshirt for the 2024-25 season following a torn ACL in his right knee, sustained during a game against Butler on January 10, 2024. After undergoing surgery on January 19, he will sit out this entire season but will have two seasons of eligibility remaining starting in 2025-26. Prior to his injury, Jones played 16 games in the 2023-24 season, averaging 5.8 points and 2 assists per game. Marquette, currently ranked 8th in the country with a record of 13-2, is 4-0 in Big East play and will host Georgetown next. Coach Shaka Smart previously expressed optimism about Jones' recovery, noting his participation in practice drills. Jones, a Columbus native, had a solid performance in previous seasons, contributing significantly to the team's dynamics.
