Campus Police Officer Injured in Denver Shooting

Early Monday morning, a police officer on the Auraria Campus in Denver was shot in the arm while attempting to arrest a suspect who had been trespassing in a vehicle. The incident began around 1 a.m. when the suspect assaulted two officers and fled, but was later found and confronted again. During the second encounter, the suspect resisted arrest, leading officers to deploy a taser, which prompted the suspect to fire multiple shots, injuring one officer. The suspect managed to escape but was ultimately apprehended by campus and Denver police. The injured officer was treated at a nearby hospital and has since been released. Campus operations resumed later in the day after the investigation concluded.
