Will Smith, Westbrook Sign Multi-Film Deal With Paramount

Will Smith is making a significant Hollywood comeback by signing a multi-picture, first-look deal with Paramount Pictures through his production company Westbrook, which he co-runs with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The deal focuses on developing IP-based, franchise-starting theatrical films, many of which Smith is expected to star in, including two projects already underway: "Sugar Bandits," an action thriller based on Chuck Hogan's novel "Devils in Exile," and "Rabbit Hole," a mystery project penned by "Dune" screenwriter Jon Spaihts. Westbrook will be headquartered on the Paramount lot in Hollywood, reflecting a strategic partnership following Paramount's recent merger with Skydance and its broader push to expand its theatrical output with high-profile deals, such as those with the "Stranger Things" creators and the Call of Duty franchise. Despite Smith’s 2022 Oscars incident involving Chris Rock, his latest projects, including 2024’s "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," have been successful, reinforcing his enduring box office appeal.
