Indian Man Killed at Israel Border by Jordanian Forces

Thomas Gabriel Perera, a 47-year-old autorickshaw driver from Kerala, India, was shot dead by Jordanian security forces while attempting to illegally cross into Israel on February 10. Perera was part of a group of four who traveled to Jordan on tourist visas, misled by a promise of high-paying jobs in Israel. His companion, Edison, was injured in the incident and deported back to India after treatment. The Indian Embassy in Jordan confirmed the incident and is assisting Perera's family with the repatriation of his remains. The case highlights the risks associated with illegal migration and fraudulent recruitment agencies, which have also targeted other vulnerable individuals in India.
