Erie Man Fatally Shot by Parole Agent Identified

Marchello Woodard, a 43-year-old Erie man, was fatally shot by a Pennsylvania state parole agent at East 27th and German Streets on July 2. The incident began when police observed Woodard slumped over in his car; witnesses report the situation escalated after he attempted to drive away as officers asked him to exit the vehicle. The parole agent fired at Woodard, who then drove a short distance before city police stopped him, found him incapacitated, and provided first aid. Woodard was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Both the parole agent and Woodard were hospitalized following the incident.
