Major Meth Busts Unfold Across U.S. States

Authorities across multiple states have intensified efforts against methamphetamine trafficking, including a major Minneapolis operation that resulted in the seizure of nearly 900 pounds of meth, valued at $1.7 million, and the arrests of Guillermo Mercado Chaparro and Joel Casas-Santiago, both alleged to have connections to major Mexican drug organizations. The Minneapolis bust was coordinated by local and federal agencies such as the FBI, St. Paul Police Department, and Ramsey County Sheriff's Office. In a separate incident, a two-week FBI-led operation in southern Illinois led to federal indictments for eight individuals accused of operating a meth distribution ring, with further arrests possible as investigations continue. Additional arrests for meth possession or distribution were reported in Pennsylvania, North Dakota, and Texas, underscoring the widespread nature of meth-related crime nationwide. Officials have described the Minneapolis seizure as potentially devastating to the community and emphasized the importance of strong interagency cooperation. All suspects are currently in custody awaiting court proceedings.
