Six Hospitalized in Humboldt Park Apartment Fire
Early Friday morning, a fire broke out in a three-story apartment building located on the 4300 block of West Thomas Street in Humboldt Park, resulting in six elderly residents being hospitalized for smoke inhalation. The victims, all in their 70s, included four men and two women, with one woman in serious condition. Firefighters responded promptly, managing to confine the flames to the basement and rescuing four individuals, while two others escaped on their own. Fortunately, none of the residents were displaced due to the fire. The Chicago Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the incident. Authorities emphasize that the situation could have been more severe without the quick response from emergency services.
