Weezer has announced they are working on a mockumentary-style film described as a blend of 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' and 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,' with Keanu Reeves cast as the villain. The project, revealed during Weezer's Coachella performance, will feature the band members alongside a cast including Ben Schwartz, Juliette Lewis, Eric Andre, and Johnny Knoxville, who are expected to appear as themselves. The movie is set in a 'heightened reality' and will serve as a concert film that doubles as a mockumentary, centering on a fictional musical rivalry involving Reeves' character. Directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, known for their work on the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise, will helm the film, with David Leitch producing. The concept draws on Weezer's real-life history with Reeves' band Dogstar, adding a meta dimension to the storyline. No official release date has been announced.
