Robert Duff, a 32-year-old from Chester, has been sentenced to 12 years and 6 months for his role in a large-scale drug and firearms conspiracy using the encrypted communication network EncroChat. Operating under the alias 'Tommybooth', he was found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, as well as conspiracy to transfer prohibited weapons. During the period from March to June 2020, he negotiated the supply of 7.5 kg of cocaine and was involved in the sale of 27.5 kg of cannabis. Despite agreeing to substantial drug deals, he only supplied a fraction of what was promised. Judge Steven Everett condemned the impact of drugs on society, emphasizing their destructive nature. Duff's arrest was part of a larger operation following the dismantling of EncroChat by international law enforcement in May 2020.
