WaterFire Announces 2025 Season with Six Full Lightings, New Events

WaterFire, Providence's signature public art installation, will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025 with a season featuring six full river lightings, two partial lightings, and four 'Starts at Sunset' events on the Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge. The season begins May 15 with a sunset event and kicks off its first full lighting on May 31, coinciding with the Rhode Island School of Design's commencement weekend. The schedule includes themed nights honoring local educators, veterans, and breast cancer survivors, as well as a July 4 celebration with fireworks. A new highlight is the Clear Currents Community Paddling Night on August 9. Each event combines floating flames, live music, local vendors, and community programming, aiming to foster togetherness and celebrate the city's vibrant artistic spirit. Organizers emphasize gratitude toward sponsors and community partners for sustaining this beloved tradition.
