Dodgers Reacquire Stewart, Add Call Before Deadline
The Los Angeles Dodgers reacquired right-handed reliever Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins to strengthen their injury-hit bullpen ahead of the MLB trade deadline, sending center fielder James Outman to Minnesota in return. Stewart, a former Dodgers draft pick who has overcome Tommy John and shoulder surgery, has posted a 2.38 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 34 innings this season, showing particular effectiveness against right-handed hitters. While not considered among the elite relievers moved at the deadline, Stewart provides valuable middle-to-late inning support for a Dodgers bullpen that leads MLB in innings pitched. In a separate deal, Los Angeles acquired outfielder Alex Call from the Nationals to boost outfield depth. The Dodgers are aiming to solidify their roster for a National League West title push. Minnesota, meanwhile, continued a roster overhaul by trading several core players before the deadline.
