Reliance NU Energies Secures 350 MW Solar, 175 MW Battery Project from SJVN
Reliance Power's subsidiary, Reliance NU Energies, has secured the largest allocation in SJVN Ltd's competitive bidding process for a 350 MW solar power project integrated with a 175 MW/700 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The project, awarded at a tariff of Rs 3.33/kWh fixed for 25 years, ranks among India's most competitively priced solar-storage offerings and is part of a larger 1,200 MW solar and 600 MW/2,400 MWh BESS tender. Once operational, the installation will add 600 MWp of solar PV capacity and 700 MWh of energy storage to Reliance Power's portfolio, boosting its clean energy pipeline to 2.5 GWp of solar capacity and 2.5 GWh of BESS, making it the largest player in India's integrated Solar + BESS segment. The project requires a minimum four-hour daily discharge window to assure peak power delivery to state distribution utilities and will be developed under a build-own-operate framework following Ministry of Power guidelines. The tender was highly competitive, with 19 participants and an oversubscription of more than four times, reflecting strong industry demand for dispatchable renewable energy solutions. This win reinforces Reliance Power's strategic commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint and advancing India's sustainable energy transition.
