Joey Lamar Ellis, a former Houston park ranger, is under federal investigation for allegedly robbing and sexually assaulting individuals, particularly targeting members of the LGBTQIA+ community, in various Houston parks such as Cullen Park, Memorial Park, and Cleveland Park. Ellis, who started his role in 2019, is accused of using his position to coerce victims into paying money or submitting to sexual acts under the threat of arrest. He was arrested in June and is currently facing state charges, including two counts of official oppression and sexual assault. The FBI, alongside the Houston Police Department, is urging additional victims to come forward to aid in the investigation. So far, over five victims have come forward, and authorities believe there could be more. Victims can report their experiences through a form on the FBI's website.
