A woman's body was discovered floating in the Dominguez Channel in Carson on Sunday evening, prompting an investigation by homicide detectives due to obvious signs of trauma. Authorities found the body around 7 p.m. near Carson Plaza Drive, and reports indicate the woman may be missing both legs. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has not yet identified the woman, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old, pending notification of her relatives. The medical examiner noted she had a large skin tag and was wearing a gray dress with white stripes. Investigators are trying to determine how and when she entered the channel, which runs from Hawthorne Municipal Airport to the Pacific Ocean. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the sheriff's department.
