Netflix Reveals Cast for Death By Lightning Series

Netflix's upcoming limited series 'Death by Lightning', produced by 'Game of Thrones' creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, has wrapped production in Budapest and will debut in 2025. The series explores the life and assassination of U.S. President James Garfield, played by Michael Shannon, by his deranged admirer Charles Guiteau, portrayed by Matthew Macfadyen. Recent cast additions include Archie Fisher as Joe Brown, Barry Shabaka Henley as Senator Blanche Bruce, and Željko Ivanek as Dr. Doctor Bliss, among others, joining previously announced stars like Betty Gilpin and Nick Offerman. Based on Candice Millard's novel 'Destiny of the Republic', the series is created by Mike Makowsky and directed by Matt Ross. The storyline highlights Garfield's reluctant presidency and the tragic events leading to his assassination in 1881. The show promises to deliver a 'stranger-than-fiction' account of this historical event.
