Mia Carragher Cast as Katniss for Stage Debut
Mia Carragher, daughter of former Liverpool footballer Jamie Carragher, has been cast as Katniss Everdeen in the first-ever stage adaptation of The Hunger Games, which will premiere in London on October 20, 2025, at the new Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre. Carragher, who previously appeared in 'One Night in Istanbul' and 'The Gathering,' has been praised by director Matthew Dunster as the ideal choice for the role and has demonstrated her archery and combat skills in rehearsal teasers. The adaptation is led by Olivier Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson and aims to deliver an immersive experience in a venue designed for in-the-round staging. The project marks a major new chapter for the franchise, which has seen renewed interest with recent film prequels such as 'The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.' Carragher's casting has been celebrated by both fans and her father. She will also appear alongside former Hunger Games actor Josh Hutcherson in the upcoming comedy 'Let’s Love.'
